using parallelism (p226) 平行結構 parallelism presents equivalent ideas in grammatical equivalent form. dressing hem in the same grammatical garb calls attention to their kinship and adds smoothness and polish.

demonstration Jame's outfit was wrinkled, mismatched, and he needed to wash it.(單字和獨立的子句) Parallelism Jame's outfit was wrinkled, mismatched, and dirty.(都是單字) Oscar likes reading books, attending plays, and to search for antiques.(不同的詞組) parallelism>Oscar likes reading books, attending plays, and searching for antiques. (一樣的詞組)

He had never lost his sense of joy in nature's simplest gifts. Parallelism doesn't always stop with a single sentence. Writers sometimes use it in a series of sentences. 例: He had never lost his childlike innocence. He had never lost his sense of wonder He had never lost his sense of joy in nature's simplest gifts.

Balance Hope for the best, and prepare for the worst. A special form of parallelism, positions two grammatically equivalent ideas on opposite sides of some pivot point, such as a word or punctuation mark. Hope for the best, and prepare for the worst. When I'm right, nobody ever notices; when I'm wrong, nobody ever forgets.
