Udayan 12 & 13 Campion As you are all probably aware, Udayan is a home for the children of leprosy sufferers in Kolkata, India.

Sponsoring a child. For the last two years, every sixth form at St Joan’s has sponsored one child from Udayan to help with their education, as this is not free in India. Our child is called Tarun

Tarun Tarun enjoys reading and his favourite fruit is mango. He likes playing football with his friends and watching TV with them every Sunday. Tarun loves to read and write.

In our form, we raised our total by asking friends and family to sponsor Tarun, and by sponsoring him ourselves. We also ran an Udayan coffee morning with 12/ 13 Frances and Theresa.

Two members of our form, Bernie and Pedro, were lucky enough to have the privilege of meeting Tarun at his home in Udayan, as part of the mission 2015 and were able to share their experience with us when they got back.

Udayan is not just a name – it is a place made up of children like Tarun who really need our help.
