Syd Barrett Roger Keith Barrett - or by his nickname Syd Barrett - was an English musician born on January 6th,1946, in Cambridge.

Youth When he was a child,he played the piano, ukelele, banjo and guitar.

High School Years He also spent time writing and drawing,and he had already won awards for his poetry, though he was only in high school !

The Beginning of The Band Barrett already knew Roger Waters from his school years and he reconnected with him when he moved to London.Waters formed a band with Richard Wright and Nick Mason. When one of the members left, Barrett joined.

Pink Floyd In the summer of 1965,they began using the name «Pink Floyd».

First Album Their first album came out in 1967; it's named «The Piper at the Gates».

The Beginning of The End After their first album came out, Barrett's behavior became unusual due to his drug addiction.

After His Success Between 1968 and 1972,Barrett released two albums,played in concerts but was never really satisfied.When he was 32,he moved in with his mother in Cambridge.

His Death Barrett died of pancreatic cancer on July 7th, 2006,at the age of 60,in Cambridge.
