A translation, or glide, is an isometry that glides all points the same distance in the same direction.
If a transformation T maps any point (x, y) to (x + a, y +b), then T is a translation. Each point glides 10 units right and 2 units up. (3, -2) (-7, -4)
Another way to find a translation is to perform a reflection in the first of two parallel lines and then reflect the image in the other parallel line. A transformation made up of successive transformations is called a composition.
A glide reflection combines two isometries to produce a new transformation. This new transfomation is itself an isometry. P P’ P”
