Mission Statement White Rock tutoring exists to help students excel at math. We provide a unique environment to help students have fun while mastering the craft and art of math. Our success depends on our students success; if they do not succeed we do not succeed.

Product Math tutoring services to students in grades 5 through 9. Tutors will be accomplished math students in grades 9 through 12. Students tutoring other students will create a greater connection between the tutor and the student. We tutor students where they are comfortable in places such as their house or at their school

Start Up Costs Start up costs will be as follows: Create a website: $2,000.00 Telus Website Hosting ($50.00 * 12 months) 600.00 per year Business Cards (500 cards) 14.50 Brochures (200 brochures) 353.92 Twitter Followers 950.00 Cell Phone ($50.00 * 12 months) 600.00 per year -------------- Total: $4,518.42 =========

Advertising Advertise through brochures, business cards, website, Twitter and most importantly through word of mouth First hour of tutoring with each student is free. The cost of this program has been added to “day to day” costs spreadsheet.

Tutoring Rates 1 student - 20 dollars an hour 2 students - 15 dollars each for 1 hour of tutoring 3 students - 12 dollars each for 1 hour of tutoring 4 students - 10 dollars each for 1 hour of tutoring 5 students - 9 dollars each for 1 hours of tutoring 6 students - 8 dollars each for 1 hour of tutoring Cash or cheque will be accepted. To reduce costs we do not plan on setting up a Pay Pal account Invoices sent to parents at the end of each month

Customer Service Main selling point: Students are tutoring students; Fellow student are often able to connect better than adult tutors. If a parent is unhappy with a tutor we will first offer to provide them with a different tutor. If still unhappy, we will provide a refund.

Why would a student want to work for White Rock Student Tutors? We will provide student tutors with support and a place to discuss any issues that might arise while they are tutoring. Our tutors will not have to worry about the business side of tutoring such as advertising, obtaining new customers, collections, dealing with unhappy clients, cost of supplies and any other start up costs. We will require that tutors sign a contract agreeing that they will not tutor any of our current or past customers for 6 months after they leave our company.

Day to Day Costs

Risks and Rewards Risks: Rewards: Unable to convince parents to trust students tutoring other students. This will result in us loosing our start up costs. We are not able to find enough high quality student tutors. Rewards: We are able to help other students by creating a new form of tutoring. Our business plan works out and we make money.

Goals To establish a business with a good reputation (Get 50 recommendation per year) To help students reach their full potential in math (No student will receive less then a B in math) Increase the number of students being tutored from 30 per week in year 1 to 75 in year 3. Increase the number of student tutors from 3 in year 1 to 7 in year 3.

Competition Competition: Why we are better: Sylvan, Kumon and other private tutoring services Why we are better: We charge cheaper rates and are able to connect with students better We come to students home, school or where ever they are most comfortable Students are also able to have more fun while being tutored

Why We Are Cheaper Sylvan and Kumon charge a $200 assessment fee and an additional $50 per session White Rock Tutors does not charge an assessment fee and the cost is only $20 per session We are roughly $1,250 cheaper per year

Potential Problems and Solutions People don’t trust us with their kids - don’t think that we are certified tutors. Solution: Important that we carry ourselves in a professional manner (e.g. dress code, language).

Conclusion Three Main Points White Rock Student Tutoring will be a successful business There is no other form of student tutoring on the market that provides the quality and affordable price that we do White Rock Student Tutoring could turn out to be a very profitable business
