Strategic Development in Schools Based on your feedback this session will aim to provide you with tools and ideas for developing your programme past the initial meetings. We will take a look at: best practice, the longer term view and provide guidance to ensure you have a sustainable quality programme. Ensure EC’s have a range of practical tools to support with long term planning in a school or college; Provide guidance to help EC’s to add value to the strategic planning process to ensure a quality, impartial and thorough provision is implemented; To consider the journey of an EA over a two year programme and the support mechanisms that need to be in place.

Strategic Development in Schools Session 1: Tools and Resources The Compass Tool and the school summary report The CEC development tool (Audit and development plan) Tracking and benchmarking Teachers and Students feeding into the Development Plan – year 2 CPD and reminders of the bigger picture

Strategic Development in Schools Session 2. Adding value to the planning process In small groups (5 or more) look at the example audit and discuss where you think the gaps in provision are. Consider key questions you or the EA should be asking the school. Consider any suggestions or recommendations you might make and any key partners of services you might raise awareness of (remember the CEC fund beneficiaries!) Review group feedback against printed example

Strategic Development in Schools Session 3. The EA journey Using your flip chart paper consider the key points for EA’s on their journey through year 1 and year 2 of the programme. Review the different steps highlighted on the cards and place them in order on the timeline – adding in your own suggestions on any blank cards provided, once you have agreed stick the cards in place. You may want to take photos of these suggested timelines to discuss further with your LEP.
