What we do at Sand Point? Framework for Culturally Responsive Teaching: Relationships, Rigor, Relevance, Fall and Spring Dance Unit with dance teacher Every Tuesday Family Check out in Library K-5 SEL Curriculum Built by our staff with Monthly Themes using RULER Anchor Tools 3 40 min PE classes each week Advisory First Monday of each Month 3 recesses with a total of 40 min Assembly Last Friday of each Month led by student leaders Structured games at recess that are taught in PE Hallway Gallery Walk of Student Work Students Led Component to Patent-Teacher Conferences Weekly SEL lessons Tons of Community Events (Heritage Brunch, Earth Day, Family Bingo, Science Night, Student vs Staff Soccer Match, Spelling Bee, Field Day and more) Aligned Transition Call and Response Morning Meeting in every class everyday Tons of After-School Enrichment (Garden Club, Squirrels Rock Club , Stone Soup Theater Club, YMCA Clubs, YMCA Childcare Voice Level Meter Hula Hoop Space For 4/5 Students (Dancing Classrooms, Islandwood, Walk Around Math Model, Ukuleles, Instrumental Music and more) Family Charter Night Morning Announcements daily led by student leaders For 1/2/3/ Students(Project Math, Music Extension, Individual Math Extension for Advanced Learners) Squirrel Choice Award Lunches Multi-age classrooms Family support worker to help families Differentiated Literacy Instruction with New Curriculum Weekly Newsletter Literacy Intervention Support and Math Intervention Support Art every week for one semester Special Education Support Music class every week Support for English Language Learners Buddy Classrooms to build community across grade levels
