Stimulus (full bladder) UR: unconditioned Response (wake-up response) UCS: unconditioned Stimulus (full bladder) Undeveloped in enuresis UCR: unconditioned response); the UCR becomes a conditioned response (CR) to what was previously a neutral stimulus & is now a CS Neutral stimulus = full bladder (NS becomes a conditioned stimulus (CS) through repeated pairings Pair with Stimulus (loud alarm) CS now elicits CR UCS elicits UCR In Alarm Training the goal is to train the full bladder (currently a NS) to become a conditioned stimulus so that it will elicit a wake-up response) Every time the bladder is full while sleeping and the child begins to urinate, the alarm sounds and wakes the child. Eventually, the full bladder alone wakes the child.
