Key tips for effective presentations Have a strong structure Sell benefits, not features Keep text and jargon to a minimum Practice your handovers Don’t read from a script or over-rehearse Add impact with a strong visual style Science is very technical – get lost in the detail and your audience will get bored Make sure you tell a story Lead your audience by introducing what you’re going to talk about and summarising.
Developing a strong visual style Thoughtful use of colour, font and layout. Visual continuity throughout the presentation/pitch. Imagery > text. Careful use of animation. Never use Comic Sans MS!
