Please do the following: Reread your introduction. Have you introduced your topic in an interesting & relevant manner? Bold the Thesis, Topic Sentences, and Restatement of Thesis Idea. Is your thesis statement stated clearly and does it include an appropriate theme? Does each of your claims (topic sentences) prove your thesis? Make notations where needed.

Look at each paragraph and decide if you: Provided enough specific evidence Used at least one quotation well Made it clear how the evidence proves the claim (warrants) Do you restate your thesis idea at the beginning of the conclusion? Does your conclusion come full circle or close your essay in some other effective manner?

INTEGRATING QUOTATIONS His words show how he grapples with one of the darkest flaws of the world, racism, and its “storms of persecution” and “winds of police brutality” (King). For Gatsby, a man who “believed in the green light,” anything he ever was or could be was worth sacrificing to win the woman he loved (Fitzgerald 182). A-NOT-SO-GREAT JOB INTEGRATING A QUOTATION He writes, “The handsome, blue-eyed warrior would be nuzzling the impossibly pale neck of a white woman as she reared her head back in primitive ecstasy” (Alexie).   THE NOT-SO-GREAT JOB INTEGRATING A QUOTATION FIXED! He writes that according to romance novel writers, Indians are supposed to be “handsome, blue-eyed warrior[s]” who “nuzzl[e] the impossibly pale neck of a white woman as she reared her head back in primitive ecstasy” (Alexie).
