Jesus, the perfect model of the Shepherd Jesus is the most accurate example of the good shepherd. Jesus is the good shepherd who knows his sheep and his sheep also know him (Jn 10:11). He is the shepherd who listens to his sheep and heals them (Matt 9:6; Mk 1:34;7:28-29; Ps 80:1) and who feeds them (Mk 6:1-10;Ps 23:1; SS1:8; Ezek 34:23). He is the shepherd who restores their souls and leads them to the righteous path (Mk 8:33-38; Jn 6:60-65;Ps 23:3). He is the shepherd who comforts his sheep from evil with his rod and staff (Ps 23:4) and who lays down his life for his sheep (Jn 10:15). He is the shepherd who guides them to springs of the water of life and will finally wipe every tear from their eyes (Rev 7:17).
