1 John 1:8 – “If we say that we have no sin” “Grk ‘say we do not have sin’…limited to John and 1 John…all refer to situations where a wrong action has been committed or a wrong attitude has already existed, resulting in a state of sin…” ~ NET BIBLE

SUMMARY: The apostles bear witness, shew, declare and write unto us the message that is fundamental to eternal life. John’s message is that God is light and in him is no darkness at all – all our teachings and beliefs must be consistent with the fact that God is 100% good, right, and true. Fellowship with the apostles, God and His Son and ultimately each other is contingent on walking in the light (i.e. the truth). Order is not everything, but without order we have nothing. Light (i.e. an understanding of the truth) must come before the walk (i.e. practical expression of that way of life). We are guilty of sin and it is the blood of Jesus Christ that cleanseth us from all sin i.e. we believe in the principles taught in life of Jesus poured out, even in death i.e. God is declared to be just, we admit we are in the wrong, our sins are forgiven, with our minds clear of sin we choose to serve Him. This process requires that we confess our sins. God knows our hearts (conscience); if we are dishonest we maintain a breach with God, and make him a liar. If we are honest with Him, we can have confidence toward God.
