Presentation transcript:

Mr. Elliott Social Studies Class Expectations Be in your seat and ready when the bell rings. Come to class with all required materials and supplies. All students must have IDs with them in class. Respect the teacher and classmates. Do not distract other students with unnecessary interruptions. Keep all electronics off and out of sight.

Class Procedures Sharpen pencils at appropriate times before class begins. Hall passes will not be issued at the beginning or end of class. The class is a “red zone” for technology. Students are to remain in their seats until the bell rings, no lining up.

Entering the classroom All students will enter quietly and place their books on their own desk. If you are tardy, wait at the door for the teacher’s signal for you to enter. Check the task board for any important information. Use the time prior to the bell to prepare for the class.

Leaving the class The teacher will dismiss the class. Walk out of the room quietly. If you need to meet privately with the teacher, do so when other students are gone. We do not line up! Work right up the bell. Clean up your mess before leaving.

Basic class style Students are expected to be serious about the learning opportunities. Students are expected to stay in their seats. Students are expected to raise their hands before speaking. Students are expected to answer questions in complete sentences. Students are expected to do their own work. All assignments are to be neat and complete, and turned in on time.

Heading Your Paper This heading must be on all assignments that are turned in: First and last name goes on top line on right side margin. Date goes on the line directly below your name. Class/period information goes on top line on left margin side. Assignment/page information goes on line directly under class information. Papers missing this information will not be accepted.

Grading Policy 75%-Tests and quizzes will account for 75% of your grade. 25%-Assignments and class work will account for 25% of your grade. Grades will be posted in Power School, usually on the same day as each new item. Failed exams/tests are entered in PS as 50%. Missing assignments are entered in PS as 0%.

Test Retake Policy Students who fail a test may have a retake. Information about day and time of the retake will be given in class. Quizzes are not eligible for retakes.

Tests and Quizzes You will be given advance notice before all tests and quizzes. No pop quizzes! You will have a test review and make a study guide before chapter tests. Retakes for tests will be before/after school. Retakes will not be permitted if there is any missing work. Teacher has the right to suspend the retake privilege in certain cases.

Stop, look, and listen If the class phone rings. If an announcement comes on. If the teacher rings the bell three times. If the teacher asks for your attention.
