Holy Ground John 17

Thankful that Jesus came to reveal His Father and pay a ransom! He wants people to be adopted into His family! God can be trusted to carry out His perfect plan! Suffering is not in vain! An eternal place is waiting!

His Attitude toward His Father v.1 Honor, worshipful reverence, submission show love for His Father No room for pride, egotism, or haughtiness 1 Corinthians 11.27-32

His Relationship with His Father v.2-3 personal, trusting, confident, loving, joyful He is confident that the cross is no accident.

Acts 2.22-23 22 ”…Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through Him in your midst… 23 Him, being delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God, you have taken by lawless hands, have crucified, and put to death;

1 Peter 1.18-20a 18 knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, … 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. 20 He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world,

Hebrews 12.2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

What was His joy? That His gracious Father would be honored. That His Father would be satisfied with His sacrifice. That so many would receive eternal life.

His Passion for His Family v.3 That they would experience Eternal Life Jesus came so He could share His perfect Father with human beings.

His Destiny v.5 Back to His Father’s presence. Ps 16.10-11 10 For You will not leave my soul in Sheol, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption. 11 You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

John 17 Holy Ground This conversation reveals much valuable truth. Truth for which I’m very thankful.
