ARTI Apulia Regional Agency for Technology and Innovation Role and activities January 2008

ARTI It is the Apulia Agency for Technology and Innovation. Its function is to strengthen the regional innovation players and the relationships among them, in order to help and develop the stream of innovation between research and enterprises.

The role of ARTI To support the policy decision makers in defining and monitoring actions, guaranteeing the governance among the local, the national and the community levels To concur to the sustainable growth of Apulia, by promoting the development of an innovative regional system To create and to animate a relationships and exchanges network among the subjects involved in the elaboration and the use of new knowledge and technologies To stimulate and facilitate innovative behaviors in Apulian society To design and supply services supporting this mission

1. The dissemination of innovation culture The Agency develops analysis and description of subjects (universities, research centers and enterprises), policies and research projects. In addition, ARTI also organizes activities of dissemination towards these subjects and civil society. Innovation Club Talents’ network Researchers’ Night Research at school

The strengthening of regional innovation players ARTI promotes initiatives to enforce enterprises, universities, research centers and bodies, by supporting them in the participation in industrial research projects, partly financed by regional, national and community instruments. 2. The strengthening of regional innovation players / 2 ARTI also supports regional policy makers in the monitoring and the assessment of regional innovation policies. IASMINE Project (6° FP EU project): development of methodologies and tools for innovation policies impact assessment Support to the Economic Development regional Ministry: evaluation of industry research proposals (PIA-PIT) Support to the Vocational Training regional Ministry: monitoring and assessment of research scholarships

3. The development of technological chains ARTI promotes and realizes projects and feasibility studies in fields in which Apulia Region owns scientific or technologic expertise, such as: mechatronics aerospace renewable energies agro-food multimedia contents In each field ARTI develops a project, ideas for research programmes or a strategy for the animation of regional innovation players.

3. The development of technological chains / Mechatronics From mechanics to mechatronics in fields of excellence Through the Technological District, R&D activities in technologies interesting both big industrial groups (Bosch, Getrag, Fiat) and SMEs

The development of technological chains / Aerospace From the blue collars to the white ones Systemize the scientific competences of the Apulian universities and research centers and the enterprise strategies, by promoting public-private research that can be immediately used by the regional firms.

The development of technological chains / Renewable energies The laboratory region for the renewable energies Solar, aeolic, biomasses, hydrogen, energy saving: research and development fields of excellence, in which new technological solutions will be developed thanks to the action of both firms and universities

3. The development of technological chains / Agro-food The land of quality food Through the D.A.RE. Technological District, development of research, innovation, production, diversification, service in quality foodstuff

The development of technological chains / Multimedia contents Multimedia creativity Describing the full regional system of competences and enterprises, even the micro-ones, in the field of production of audio, video and multimedia contents. Strengthening this system, by leveraging on innovation and human capital, in accordance with the cultural policies of the Regional Government.
