Lang Company Employees Volunteer at Ronald McDonald House When families have a child in the hospital, it’s a stressful time! Ronald McDonald House provides safe and low cost lodging for families so they can be near their sick child. They welcome volunteers to help cook and serve dinner meals. On June 4, 2017 Lang Employees participated in providing a great meal of BBQ baby back ribs, pulled pork BBQ, roasted new potatoes, cole slaw, green beans, hot rolls, ice cream sundaes and homemade sugar cookies to about 60 residents of the Ronald McDonald House. Food was purchased using our Jean’s Day contributions. We unloaded equipment and supplies and prepared queso and chips for an afternoon snack. We had several families come through and enjoy the snack. Executive chef Geoffrey Vickery supervised the kitchen to make sure all food was prepared and ready on time. Several of Geoffrey’s children and grandchildren helped as well! Julie Welter, Jim Welter, Evelyn Welter, Mimi Welter and Tom Welter contributed to the food preparation and assisted with the clean up. The buffet was ready by 5:00 and several families with hungry kids took advantage of an early dinner. Most of the families came through between 6:00 and 7:00 pm. Our team of volunteers made sure everyone got plenty to eat. It was an enormously rewarding experience – one we would like to repeat again soon. Thank you to all who volunteered and all who donated to this worthy cause!
