Agenda Sustainability Evaluation Evaluation methods Test Measures Rules Measuring the learning experience

Sustainability

Forums How to evaluate the quality and reputation? As many post the person had written bigger the reputation is not trustful.

Distancy Education University. 50 students Each one write one post Each one read and comment 3 posts This needs time, needs deadlines!

Doodle.com Good example to organize, schedule and generate deadlines. Features: 1-Create a poll. 2- Forward the link to the poll to the participants. 3-Follow online what the participants vote for.

Books in e-learning Is not effective giving books for being read in e-learning  People doesn’t have time! One way to solve is share between the class the chapters. Give one chapter to each student and will be generated summaries

E-learning Classes must be well planned and use the time wisely, otherwise the there is risk of students dropping the course.

Evaluation

Considered Elements Time Space Asynchronous Synchronous P2P Distance Training

LMS (Learn Management System) Communication Sync. Example: WEBEX Async. Examples: SMS, Podcasting, Blogs, Wiki, Forums CMS R/W/Versioning Testing and Evaluation Class Management Palette of Activities

Testing: Activity of measuring PROFIT 20 PROFIT 5 Entrance Test T 1 T 2 Time Capacity of doing something (example, to swim ) To demonstrate that the capacity’s improvement is due to the followed course/training

Evaluation methods

Evaluation methods Socio-psicological context Stressful for students Important for measuring the understanding and measuring the learning experience

Evaluation: Objective Provide right | wrong Calculated with a precise mark ex.: True | False | N/A exams Multiple Choice Performance (driving license) Distractor: wrong answer

Evaluation: Subjective Not valuable with precise marks ex.: Written Exam Oral Interview Results based on personal opinion (professional) The rules are decided before the exam

Test measures

Test Measures Different measure styles you can have: 1. IN/OUT: Fail / Pass exam 2. Cardinal message: Mary before Peter, Peter before Cecilia, Cecilia before John. (Independent from the distance between them) 3. Marks from 0 to 30.

Test Rules: R.A.C.E. Economic Relevance Acceptability Comparability has to measure the right things Acceptability Evaluation must be accepted by everyone Comparability Tests should be comparable, for different people or for the same person in different moments. Economic Effort and resources in order to test are reasonable compared to the result.

Measuring the learning experience The measuring process hints:

Measuring the learning experience Applied on people being trained, mainly tries to get the feedback about the test by a direct interview, the pricipal problem is the lack of objectivity.

Measuring the learning experience By valuating the adquired knowledge of trained people. objetive subjetive

Measuring the learning experience Capacity of people to develop the adquired knowledge on the task they will be asked to do.

Measuring the learning experience Measured by the overall impact of the bottom line. Previous knowledge Time and effort spent final knowledge
