Anyone who has ACKNOWLEDGED, REPENTED AND FORSAKEN his sins (John 3:16) Someone who has been cleansed through the blood of Jesus, living by God’s grace and FREE FROM SINS (1John3:8,9; Galatians 1:4) Someone who has surrendered his entire life to Jesus and is NOW LIVING IN THE NEWNESS OF LIFE (Romans 12:1,2; 2Corinthians 5:17) Someone following Christ; seeks heavenly things (Colossians 3:1,2) Who is a believer?
How do we set our affections on things above? By being dead to sin v. 3,4 By putting off of our old sinful lifestyle v. 5-8 By putting on a new lifestyle of Christ v. 9-17 By living as God commands us in every place and situation v. 18-25
Why must we focus on heavenly things? Christ has gone to prepare a place for us in heaven John 14: 1-3 Heaven is a holy place; those who will make it must get themselves ready for Christ’s return Colossians 3:4
God’s has Instruction for Everybody The Father (THE HEAD) Love his wife; be not bitter against her(v. 19; Eph. 5:28, 33) Do not provoke the children (v. 21) The Wife Submits to her husband DELIBERATELY (v. 18; Eph. 5:22) The Children Obey our parents provided we are not told to disobey God (v. 20; Eph. 6:1) Servants Obey our masters in all things…as unto the Lord (v. 22-25) The head takes decision
