Bill Barnett and Michel Tavares Informatics Core 2013 CIFASD Annual Meeting Bill Barnett and Michel Tavares January 8, 2013

Topics to be Reviewed What is the Informatics Core? Services we offer How our goals are changing for the next 5 years Challenges we see ahead Current status of repository Current activities  Work schedule

What is the Informatics Core? A U24 service core for the CIFASD consortium A service for the collection and centralization of CIFASD data A service for integrative studies of CIFASD data The steward of CIFASD data The lead organization in the development of CIFASD data standards.

What is the Informatics Core? - Principles We serve the needs of the consortium first and foremost. We are stewards of CIFASD data, not data owners We ensure standards are established and work across the consortium, but do not determine standard terms We ensure the safe, long term storage of CIFASD data

Services We Offer Develop Input and Upload Tools Apply Consortium data standards to data sets Manage the Core Repository Develop tools for data quality, integration, and download. Assist in data upload, management, and custom queries

Services We Offer - Resources Oracle Enterprise Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) Core Repository of CIFASD research data Publicly shared input and upload tools 5 Petabytes of high speed spinning disk and archival storage on a 15.7 Petabyte hierarchical storage infrastructure High performance computing for data intensive research applications

How Our Goals are Changing: The Last 5 Years Ongoing maintenance and improvement of Central Repository, Input Tools, Data Dictionary Ongoing data quality assurance services and custom reports such as the Demographics Group Class report Ongoing reporting of status and statistics Ongoing assistance with usage of Upload, Input, and Cross Query Tools Ongoing collaborative development of the Data Dictionary Collaborative publication on CIFASD methodologies and the Data Dictionary

How Our Goals are Changing: The Next 5 Years Support the existing data management, data storage, and data submission to the CIFASD Central Repository Lead the ongoing evolution of the CIFASD informatics tools, standards, and data sets Enable cross-study and cross-modality data analysis amongst CIFASD and affiliated data Incorporate new modalities of data such as Genomics in to the CIFASD Central Repository

The Next 5 Years: Staffing Bill Barnett is the PI: 5% Ganesh Shankar, Manager, Advanced Biomedical IT Core at IU School of Medicine, will provide project management: 5% Michel Tavares: Principal System Analyst: 50% Helen Yezerets: System Analyst: 50% Andy Arenson: Principal System Analyst: 5%

Challenges We see Ahead New types of data (eg., genomic) Integration of data from Affiliated Projects (eg., PASS) Consortium growth from data collection to integrative research Data access requests from non-consortium investigators Data access requests from Year 6 on.

Current Status of the Repository Neuro Phase III Data Dictionary – Finished Neuro Phase III Input Tool – Finished Neuro Phase III Upload Mechanism – Finished Neuro Phase III Query Mechanism - Finished Preschool Neuro Input Tool - In progress

Current Activities Preschool Neuro Data Dictionary - Waiting for user approval Preschool Neuro Input Tool - Beta version in review Preschool Neuro Upload Mechanism – Analysis Neuro Phase III Query Mechanism – Finished DemGroupClass Report - Analysis

Work Schedule Preschool Neuro – anticipated by February 1 Finalize Data Dictionary Finalize Input Tool Finalize Upload Mechanism Finalize Query Mechanism Neuro Phase III – Finished Update data query and download mechanism DemGroupClass – anticipated by February 1 Update to handle Neuro III Cross Query – anticipated by May 30 Address the "Matrix Effect"

Questions for the Consortium Development What are next tasks? What is anticipated time frame for those tasks? What is the priority of those tasks? Data What is schedule for data coming into CR? Are there anticipated Cross Queries for which we can prepare? Affiliated Projects When will we need to integrate with PASS (and other data) and how will that happen?

Thank you! Questions? Bill Barnett (barnettw@iu.edu) Ganesh Shankar (gshankar@iu.edu) Michel Tavares (mtavares@iu.edu) Helen Yezerets (yyezeret@iupui.edu) Andy Arenson (aarenson@iu.edu)
