Obscertainer Lab VOCABULARY AND REVIEW

Observations: Things learned or perceived using the 5 senses Sight Hearing Touch Taste Smell

Direct Evidence: Knowledge gained through observations

Indirect Evidence: Knowledge gained through inferences

Inference: Judgements made based on observations.

Who, Where, What, When, Why?

Who, Where, What, When, Why?

Confirmation: Making sure checking using supportive evidence. To verify

Confirmation Math, math and more math

Control: The normal conditions in an experiment. – used for comparison purposes. Placebo group– the group that does not get the treatment

Experimental Change Variable – Any change that affects the outcome in an experiment. Manipulative – A change done on purpose. What you are testing. (Independent variable) Responding – A change that occurs in the outcome of an experiment. (Dependent variable)

Bean plant mass and water Manipulative or Independent variable Amount of water given to each plant Responding or Dependent variable Mass of beans after being picked

Sneezes and allergy medicine Independent or Manipulative variable Number of allergy pills each group took Dependent or Responding variable Number of sneezes each group recorded

X axis, Manipulative or Independent Variable Title Key or Legend Used for Multiple Lines or Bars Y axis, Responding Or Dependent Variable X axis, Manipulative or Independent Variable
