ACT/AG “to do, act” Agenda: noun Proactive: adjective Plan of action or purpose The United States had an agenda to stop communism in Vietnam. Proactive: adjective Seeking to solve a problem before it occurs The proactive facial cleanser cleared up my acne so I could look photogenic in my senior portrait.
Exacting: adjective Demanding The exacting coach sometimes kept the team for hours to practice a single play.
PULS/PEL “to push” Repulsion: noun Dispel: verb Desire to avoid; disgust/horror After watching several episodes of surgeries on television, I began to feel a repulsion towards blood. Dispel: verb To scatter about, break up The police were sent to dispel the protestors marching against the war in Washington D.C.
Propel: verb To cause to move towards; push The strong wind propelled the kite in the sky, just missing a tree.
LAT “brought, carried” Relative: adjective Superlative: adjective Dependent upon The number of people at the beach on any day is relative to the weather and season. Superlative: adjective Excellent; above all others The Class of 2013’s performance on the HSPA was superlative to any other class at JFKMHS.
Dilate: verb To widen The surgeon dilated the opening of the soldier’s windpipe so he could breathe better.
