Crisis Intervention Team Memphis Model “This is policing for the 21st Century” by International Association of Chiefs of Police (1999) “This program should be imitated in every city in America” by E. Fuller Torrey Psychiatrist of Princeton University (1996) “. . . the best pre-booking diversion program in the U.S.” by Hank Steadman PhD, President of Policy Research Associates(2000) In 1999 The International Association of Chiefs of Police posted in an article. In 1996 E. Fuller Torey a Psychiatrist from Princeton University stated. In 2000 Hank Steadman Phd and President of Policy Research Associates who studies behavioral health and criminal justice stated.

NJ COUNTIES CONTAINING CIT PROGRAMS CAMDEN BURLINGTON MERCER HUNTERDON UNION PASSAIC ESSEX WARREN OCEAN HUDSON STATE POLICE CIT originated in Camden County and now has moved into Burlington, Mercer, Hunterdon, Union, Passaic, Essex, and even into the State Police.

CIT is a 40 hour Course

CIT is a 40 Hour Curriculum CIT is a 40 hour week long class. Runs from 8:00 am to about 5:00 pm everyday.

“The Community I Serve” Nami Video We have an awesome partnership with Nami NJ. In this video, law enforcement officers tell their stories about experiences with mentally ill consumers, and how their eyes were opened by the CIT program and the education of mental health. Legal professionals weigh in to give perspective on the collaboration of the two worlds. The video gives brief examples of consumers in crisis, and the techniques that trained officers to used to de-escalate techniques in the situations at hand.
