Carr is Associate Professor in the Departments of Sociology and Interdisciplinary Studies at Lakehead University in Orillia, Canada. Dr. Carr’s research is broadly focused on social justice and political sociology, with specific Gina Thésée is Associate Professor in the Department of Education and Pedagogy at Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) in Canada. She is co-editor of Les faces caches: De l’interculturel de la rencontre des porteurs de cultures (2010), a book that addressed critical issues and linkages to the areas of democracy, peace, media literacy, and transformational change in education. His publications include one single-author book, eight edited books, and roughly 90 articles and book chapters.. Dr. Carr is also the co-founder of the Global Doing Democracy Research Project along with Dr. David Zyngier of Monash University. In 2012, his research was recognized with Lakehead University`s Contribution to Research Award, and his books have won several awards, including the Critic`s Choice Award from the American Education Studies Association. Dr. Carr speaks English, French, and Spanish, and undertakes research with colleagues in a number of countries. Previously, his work has been recognized with international awards related to leadership, scholarship and diversity. His website is: www.paulrcarr.net relationships related to cultural diversity. Her research interests include the socio-educative issues related to Afro-descendents/heritage, anticolonialism, gender, inter/multiculturalism, race, epistemology, and critical pedagogy. She is also Co-Investigator, with Paul R. Carr, on the research-project entitled Democracy, Political Literacy and the Quest for Transformative Education. She is co-editor for the French language editions of the International Journal of Critical Pedagogy and of the Canadian and International Education Journal. Dr. Thésée speaks French, English and Créole, and is involved in research networks throughout the francophonie.
