San Francisco Mission The San Francisco Mission is located in the middle of a busy city. It also has a small cemetery. The Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes Shrine is the mass grave of the San Francisco Mission Indians.

San Francisco Mission Services are conducted at 9:00 a.m., Monday through Saturday, and at 8:00a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on Sundays; however, the schedule may change on religious holidays. The current church building stands unchanged since 1791.

San Francisco Mission

San Francisco Mission There were 2 founding missionaries for this mission. Both were Frs. Pedro Cambón and Francisco Palou. It was founded under the founder father president of Fr. Junípero Serra.

San Francisco Mission The Native American members also joined the mission. Some of them were from Ohlone, Bay Miwok, Patwin and Coast Miwok tribes.

San Fracisco Mission The San Francisco mission is the oldest surviving structure in san Francisco and the seventh religious settlement established as part of the California chain of missions.

San Francisco Mission The Mission was founded on June 29th, 1776 by leutenient José Joaquin Moraga and Francisco Paló (a companion of Junípero Serra), both members of the de Anza Expadition, which had been charged with bringing Spanish settlers to Alta (upper) California, and evangalizing the local Natives, the Ohlone.
