Supplementary Figure 2. Free floating tumorspheres expressed multiple stem cell markers such as CD133, Nestin, Sox2 and Tra1-80, as shown for hypoxic tumor-derived culture (A-D); they differentiated spontaneously into more mature phenotypes expressing astroglia (GFAP)- (E) and neuron (β-III-tubulin) (G)-specific proteins following mitogen withdrawal and supplementation with 10% FCS in adherent culture. Interestingly, the presence of the mesenchymal marker (Vimentin) (F), and the neural stem cell -specific marker Nestin (H) indicate a not fully terminated differentiation process.
