University of Kansas Sponsored Students

Sponsored Students A sponsored student is any international student whose tuition and fees are paid directly to the University of Kansas by an outside organization, embassy, government or corporation.

Support Services Celeste works with sponsored students to promote a successful, smooth and fulfilling experience at KU. Advising and assistance cover topics such as: Communication between the sponsor, students, and KU offices and departments Guidance to students regarding sponsor policies, procedures and paperwork Student counseling with housing, general advising, health or family concerns, and other personal issues Documentation required by the sponsor, including transcripts, and special progress reports Utilizing campus resources, including International Student Services, Watkins Health Center, Registrar’s Office, Student Account Services, Counseling and Psychological Services, University Career Center and academic departments.

Sponsored Student Responsibilities Submit a KU Sponsorship Release Form to allow the university to communicate with your sponsor. This form must be signed in front of a KU staff person or be notarized.  Monitor your Enroll & Pay (https://sa.ku.edu) student account on a regular basis. Any charges unpaid by the sponsor are the student's responsibility. Provide the Student Account Services with an updated financial guarantee from your sponsor when the current one expires.  Enroll before the late enrollment fee period begins. Sponsors will not pay late fees for enrolling late! If FG is not current, you will have to pay the tuition yourself. Mainly for SACM, If the FG expired, you must contact your sponsor to request an updated FG.

Sponsored Student Responsibilities, Cont. Familiarize yourself with iHawk. Submit the Health Insurance Waiver and insurance card in iHawk (https://ihawk.ku.edu) each semester. Submit the Transcript request form each semester in iHawk if you want a transcript to send to your sponsor. Always read emails received from the following departments and KU staff: KU AAP Sponsored Program Student Account Services International Student Services

Financial Guarantee You need to have a copy of your financial guarantee on record. This can be given to Celeste or the Bursar’s Office (Room 21, Strong Hall) Know when your guarantee expires If your guarantee expires and you do not provide an updated one, you will have to pay tuition and fees.

Insurance Waivers Submit a waiver form and insurance card in iHawk (https://iss.ku.edu/insurance). Need to submit waiver every semester. If waiver form is NOT submitted, the KU health insurance charge ($610) will need to be paid by you (sponsors do NOT pay this).
