Administrator Kickoff

Core Belief: Professionalism

“Nothing of value comes without being earned “Nothing of value comes without being earned. That’s why great leaders are those who lead by example first. You can’t demand respect because of a title or a position and expect people to follow. That might work for a little while, but in the end people respond to what they see.” Michael Jordan

“What you do has far greater impact than what you say.” Stephen Covey

“Are you Craig’s mom. I’m Zain Khalpey and I love my job “Are you Craig’s mom? I’m Zain Khalpey and I love my job. And I’m really, really, really good at it. And I’m going to save your son.” Dr. Zain Khalpey

“A lot of people I work with don’t believe in the impossible “A lot of people I work with don’t believe in the impossible. And it’s for me to put that out of my mind, and try to make sure we do our best to give it our very best.” Dr. Zain Khalpey

“There were a lot of things that happened that night in Craig’s favor and if you took away any one of those things, he’s not here to tell about it today.” Andrew Skaggs Captain, Tuscon Fire Department

We should have a school system where every person in this room is a school leader like Dr. Khalpey is a heart surgeon…  “I love my job and I’m really, really, really good at it.  I’m going to save your child.”

Every administrator must be committed to: Professionalism (lead by example) Philosophy of “I love my job and I’m  really good at it. And I’m going to save your child.” Consistency High expectations for ourselves Pride in our work, our school and our district.

Every school must be about: Unwavering commitment to high expectations coupled with an environment of high support. Systems and structures in place to support an atmosphere of positive academic culture and climate. Consistency in everything we do. Support so that all employees have what they need to be successful in their jobs.

Every school must be about: Environment of continuous improvement- feedback, especially in instruction! TRUST Laser-like focus at every school about a mission/vision/purpose.

Districtwide laser- like focus: Improving culture/climate in every school and every division. Increasing student learning Improving our organizational coherence

We choose to go to the Moon We choose to go to the Moon! We choose to go to the Moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard; because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one we intend to win. John F. Kennedy September 12, 1962
