Citizen Journalism Africa (CJA) citizenjournalismafrica.org

General apercu CJA is Hivos/SANGONeT civil journalism project aiming at building the capacity of civil society organisations (CSOs) to use online and offline citizen journalism as a means of publication, lobby, networking and knowledge sharing with their constituencies. CJA’s Objectives To increase outreach in local media of balanced, objective and informative reporting on the situation of targeted marginalized groups To an increased involvement and participation of these groups in democratic processes on the national level. To improve capacity of selected African CSOs in the field of gender, children and youth, HIV/AIDS and rural communities to use both traditional and digital media strategically and with journalistic professionalism.

Partners and users The CJA interacts with 88 “chosen” partner organisations in six countries The CJA has 175 active users registered on the portal The CJA portal runs an average of 2,100 visitors and 1,600 unique visitors per month (Google analytics)
