The MLA Guide will show you what information needs to be included in your citation. Always see the same format: Part on top Whole on bottom

A complete notecard has 4 parts: Header (see red arrows), Direct Quote, Paraphrase, My Ideas
Direct quote from the source goes here Capture the EXACT author’s words Get quotes and attribution right
Paraphrase here Explain it to yourself In words you understand Look back at the quote – got it all?
Original thinking here How does this information support my thesis statement? How does this fit with what you know? What can you follow up on?
Tag notecards with subtopics from your thesis statement. (p. 6 of NoodleTools packet)
Drag tagged cards onto one another to create piles
Create your outline using your thesis statement, and . . .
watch your outline grow as you drag your notecard piles into it.
Notecards sometimes “hide” on the tabletop Notecards sometimes “hide” on the tabletop. Just move the bird’s eye view to find your notecards.

Format and export your bibliography
NoodleTools keeps track of what you do On the Dashboard, students can review their own 30-day logs. The logs have been enhanced to clearly show when items in the project are added or deleted, plus it gives the total number of citations and notecards to that point in time. We will continue to add self-assessment features so that students gain a sense of ownership and responsibility for their work.
