Mitosis and Meiosis Review

Daughter cells are identical to parent cells. MITOSIS

Cell division takes place. Both Mitosis and Meiosis

For making new cells for growth and replacing old, dead cells. Mitosis

Cells divide creating 2 new cells. Mitosis

Gametes are produced. Meiosis

Sexual reproduction. Meiosis

For making sperm, egg, & pollen. Meiosis

Occurs all over the body. Mitosis

Four cells are created. Meiosis

Occurs only in reproductive organs. Meiosis

Makes haploid cells. Meiosis

Asexual reproduction. Mitosis

Makes diploid cells. Mitosis

Reproduction used by most single- celled organisms. Mitosis

Increases genetic variety. Meiosis

Starts with a Diploid cell Both Mitosis and Meiosis

Has 5 stages: interphase, propahse, metaphase, anaphase, telophase Mitosis

Daughter cells have half the chromosomes of the original cell Meiosis

Occurs in both plants and animals Both mitosis and Meiosis

Non-disjunction can occur, creating gametes with too many chromosomes Meiosis
