Public Policy and Advocacy Committee (PPAC) Maintain an active Legislative Ambassador Network of at least 80% of Pennsylvania Legislators. Provide ongoing educational and orientation programs to the LAN and the Chapter Membership as needed. Activate the LAN upon direction of the Chapter President or Legal Counsel. Maintain ongoing dialogue with relevant members of the insurance industry regarding coverage for physical therapy, fair co-pays, and other issues that may affect the provision and payment of physical therapy services. Inform PPTA Legal Counsel as necessary regarding these issues. Identify and recommend public policy priorities for PPTA to the Board of Directors.  This work will be conducted to coincide with the session of the Pennsylvania House and Senate. Provide education and/or training sessions to members to be engaged in association policy efforts. Organize and advertise an Advocacy fundraiser annually

LAN Coverage (as of 4/2017) House 62% covered (72 of 203 uncovered) Senate 90% covered (5 of 50 uncovered) Legislature 67% covered (83 of 253 uncovered) The SED Rep coverage loss leader is 42, then the SCD with 21 uncovered and the SWD with 10 uncovered Reps Activated the LAN twice last year

Public Policy and Advocacy Committee (PPAC) Maintain ongoing dialogue with relevant members of the insurance industry regarding coverage for physical therapy, fair co-pays, and other issues that may affect the provision and payment of physical therapy services. Inform PPTA Legal Counsel as necessary regarding these issues. Consistently communicate with Legal Counsel regarding current legislation and providing opinion to the BoD and Legal Counsel Provided information to the BoD, reimbursement specialist when requested.

Public Policy and Advocacy Committee (PPAC) Identify and recommend public policy priorities for PPTA to the Board of Directors.  This work will be conducted to coincide with the session of the Pennsylvania House and Senate. Work groups for Practice Act and Wellness. Both Groups provided comprehensive information to the BoD. Work group for practice act developed an analysis of the current practice act and areas to be addressed with potential legislation Webpages developed for the members related to practice in wellness

Public Policy and Advocacy Committee (PPAC) Provide education and/or training sessions to members to be engaged in association policy efforts. Wellness work group developed webpages for the practicing this environment In 2014 and 15 provided a session for the payers summit Organize and advertise an Advocacy fundraiser annually This was not performed last year to focus fundraising for the PAPAC
