As one of the largest facilities in the world devoted to providing computational resources and expertise for basic scientific research one of three divisions in the Berkeley Lab Computing Sciences area, The Energy Sciences Network (ESnet), another national user facility, and the Computational Research Division (CRD) are the other two. The National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center (NERSC) is a U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science User Facility that serves as the primary high-performance computing center for scientific research sponsored by the Office of Science. Located at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, the NERSC Center serves more than 6,000 scientists at national laboratories and universities researching a wide range of problems in combustion, climate modeling, fusion energy, materials science, physics, chemistry, computational biology, and other disciplines. Berkeley Lab is a DOE national laboratory located in Berkeley, California. It conducts unclassified scientific research and is managed by the University of California for the U.S. DOE Office of Science. #SSUG17
User Group Structure Open to all using, interested in using or integrating GPFS No sign up required, helpful if you join the mailing list http://www.gpfsug.org/join/ Web Site: http://www.spectrumscale.org Community Consists of: Online community (website, mailing list, webinars) In-person Events held 2-4 times/year Committee in UK: Chair, secretary, co-chair and 1 media industry representative Committee in USA (USA Chapter): Principal and Co-principal (need sector representatives!) #SSUG16
Focus on Users, not Sales The Spectrum Scale Users Group is not to be used as a sales and marketing platform: it is about the community 1st and the technology 2nd, regardless of the supplier #SSUG16
