Safety Signs Safety signs are the symbols which keep workers alert from dangers General Warning Symbol HighVoltageSymbol

Fire Safety Signs Fire Alarm Fire extinguishers

Electrical Shocks Electrical Shock is the physiological reaction or injury caused by electric current passing through the human body. Types: Natural Shocks(Lighting) Artificial Shocks(in labs or homes)

Electrical Shocks

Electrical Shocks(How Accidents Occur)

What to do after Electric Shock Look first. Don't touch.  The person may still be in contact with the electrical source. Touching the person may pass the current through you. Turn off the source of electricity, if possible.  If not, move the source away from you and the person, using a dry, non- conducting object made of cardboard, plastic or wood. Check for signs of circulation (breathing, coughing or movement).  If absent, begin cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) immediately. Prevent shock.  Lay the person down and, if possible, position the head slightly lower than the trunk with the legs elevated.

Kind of Shocks Basic Factors Differentiate kind of Shocks Amplitude of Current Duration of Current Frequency

AC and DC Shocks Difference is just frequency High amplitude for short time is dangerous Low amplitude for long time also dangerous High amplitude with long time is too dangerous In DC one time muscle contraction takes place In AC multi-time muscle contraction takes place AC shock push a person away DC shock attracts a person

Dangerous Voltages and Currents

How to keep yourself Safe Do not touch anything until you know about it Always try to use your right hand for circuiting Switch off electric power for wiring Use fuses during circuit designing Always switch off while leaving lab or experiment First understand circuit then implement it Always do wiring neat and clean Do not short circuit
