American Cultural Values Independence Individualism/ Privacy Power and Control Perfectionism Sense of Urgency Equality Independence: be all you can be, push infants to sleep alone from birth on, teach the only one you can count on is your self. Individualism/ Privacy: They resist being thought of as representatives of a homogenous group, whatever the group. They may, and do, join groups—in fact many groups—but somehow believe they’re just a little different, just a little unique, just a little special, from other members of the same group. And they tend to leave groups as easily as they enter them. Privacy: push for individuals to have rights to there thoughts and actions to themselves. Demand time alone. Power and Control: Part is linked to Independence not relying on anyone but self, control life vs fate, control nature and every thing in it, not being content for accepting limits but push for more. Perfectionism: It’s never good enough, competition linked to Power and Control, society points out flaws before what’s good. Sense of Urgency: Time, Scheduales, deadlines, expecting fast results, lack of patients, vocabulary (time wasted, lost, gainned ect) Equality: Even though there is not. We teach from very young you should have equal rights.

Who am I ? Summery Every part of my being stems from some part of my cultural experience, as did my parents, and the generations before. As a child I developed values and morals from my family, who most influenced me. As a older child the dominating societies had effects and confirmed my parents values to be true. In adolescents America’s values impacted me. Everything listed in the power point is who I am. Now in adulthood, I do hold true to these values and moral; however, with education I realize they are not always what they appear. There is a lot of biases and unjustness to which the influences occurred, and do not apply to everyone even if they are societies beliefs. For this reason I challenge myself to be open-minded. I realize that each individual will encompass their own identity from their unique cultural environment.
