SUFFIXES: A GROUP OF LETTERS THAT GO ON THE END OF A WORD TO SIGNIFY SOME KIND OF MEANING.

Knowing some Spanish suffixes can help us figure out some of the cognates, making translation a “piece of pastel!”

Worksheet Instructions: We are going to figure out some Spanish cognates based on what they look and/or sound like. They will have similar suffixes. We will then figure out what each Spanish suffix is “equal” to in English. That way, when we see that suffix in the future, it will be easier to figure out what the word means in English without having to look it up in a Spanish-English dictionary. Write down on your handout what we figure out. Later, we will practice figuring out some brand new Spanish words!!! http://www.amazon.com/gp/music/wma-pop-up/B000001FKH001001/002-9406463-6319227
