New Byron Winery Launch New Package Launch January 2016 New Byron Winery Launch January 2016

Byron Winery When you think of Byron, think: 30 years ago, in 1984, Ken Byron Brown founded Byron winery. He sought out some of the best vineyards in Santa Barbara County to make Pinot Noir in both Santa Maria Valley and Sta. Rita Hills appellations. Byron is going back to our roots with renewed focus on small production, single vineyard Pinot Noir from these two AVAs. 30 years ago, in 1984, Ken Byron Brown founded Byron winery. He sought out some of the best vyds in SBC to make Pinot Noir to include: Smadre, and Sanford & Benedict. Byron will become a small production, single vineyard PN producer –When you think Byron: think SINGLE VINEYARD PINOT NOIR. When you think of Byron, think: Single Vineyard Pinot Noir from Santa Barbara County

Santa Barbara County Santa Barbara County Crafting 10 wines: 8 Pinot Noirs and 2 Chardonnays from 2 premier AVAs: Santa Maria Valley and Sta. Rita Hills Both AVAs have a transverse mountain range (running east to west rather than the typical north to south) which funnels in the cool air from the Pacific Ocean creating ideal growing conditions for Pinot Noir. Each vineyard has unique soil profiles and farming protocols that make the site and wine distinctive and memorable. Crafting 10 wines 8 Pinot Noirs and 2 Chardonnays, from 2 premier AVAs: Santa Maria Valley and Sta. Rita Hills Both AVAs have transverse mountain range (running east to west rather than the typical north to south) which funnels in the cool air from the Pacific Ocean creating ideal growing conditions for Pinot Noir. Each vineyard location has a uniqueness that makes the wines distinctive from eachother.

Single Vineyard Pinot Noirs Santa Maria Valley Nielson Vineyard Julia’s Vineyard Bien Nacido Vineyard Sierra Madre Vineyard Santa Rita Hills La Encantada Vineyard John Sebastiano Vineyard Rita’s Crown Vineyard Nielson Vineyard Santa Maria Valley is our home. It’s where our historical estate vineyard lies. We will make wines from Nielson, Julia’s, Bien Nacido and Sierra Madre. Those vineyards that we have a history with many years ago. Santa Rita Hills This is a new AVA for Byron, and will be a great addition to our single vineyard PN portfolio. We will source from La Encantada, John Sebastino, and the famed Rita’s Crown. Just 200-250 cases of each and they will be sold direct to consumer. However, Our Nielson Vyd PN will be the 3 tier wine available nationwide– and the 2013 vintage will release this coming January.

Jonathan Nagy Winemaker 10 years as Head Winemaker Honed his expertise with founder and mentor, Ken Brown Focused passion for crafting site specific Pinot Noirs from prized vineyards in Santa Barbara County. Vinifies block and clone lots separately. Experimental in nature, Jonathan trials whole cluster ferments, barrel types and is known to get into bins and boot stomp.

Nielson Vineyard Pinot Noir The Nielson Vineyard Pinot Noir will be the sole offering for national distribution. All other wines will be sold on allocation direct-to-consumer. Wine Overview This 2013 bottling of 100% Pinot Noir is a combination of Dijon and Heritage clones planted in sandy soils at our Nielson Estate vineyard. Byron’s Nielson Estate Vineyard When planted in 1964, this historic, cold-climate, benchland site became Santa Barbara’s first commercial vineyard. The estate is located 18 miles off the Pacific Ocean at 500 to 800 feet above sea level. Since 1989, the Nielson Vineyard has served as a model for viticultural experimentation and sustainable farming methods. Flavor Profile The site’s location at the warmer, east end of the Santa Maria Valley accounts for the dark color and ripe flavor profile. This wine was 100% destemmed to accentuate the rich texture and seamless tannins. Primary aromas include black berries, rose petals and earth.
