Objective and outputs of the national workshop To invite all relevant stakeholders invovled in the aquaculture sector To diseminate information on the project to the stakeholders in Montenegro To give overall rewiew on the activities of veterinary service and plans in aquaculture sector To give possibillity for discussion and understanding about the issue from different point of view and stand points To make step forward in communication among different stakeholders

National workshop “Workshop on aquaculture animal health” Held on 6 March 2015. in Podgorica Organized for public and private-sector stakeholders: representatives freshwater and marine aquaculture, Veterinary Administration, Directorate for Inspection Affairs- veterinary inspectors, representatives from MARD, Diagnostic Veterinary Laboratory.

Topics of the national workshop FAO TCP “Assistance to Western Balkan Countries for Improving Compliance to International Standards on Aquatic animal Health” The current and planned activities in the field of aquaculture (Animal health and Veterinary Public Health) Elementary biosecurity measures on farms, obligations of aquaculture production business operator in relation to animal health requirements Basic information on aquatic diseases- overview of the most important diseases in aquaculture EU legislative – animal health requirements for aquaculture animals Official sampling for laboratory testing for diseases of aquatic animals

Topics of the national workshop Introduction to TCP/RER/3402 “Assistance to Western Balkan Countries for Improving Compliance to International Standards on Aquatic animal Health” Overall information and topics on the regional workshops website of the project http://www.aquaculturebalkan.net Present situation in the aquaculture animal health, legal basis, national surveillance of fish and molluscs diseases, obligations, reporting, measures for suppresion of disease; Veterinary public health, monitorings of aquaculture primary products, registration of primary production- farmers obligations

Topics of the national workshop Information on aquatic diseases - basic information on the diseases, symptoms of diseases, OIE Aquatic Animal Health Code, Aquatic Manual for Diagnostic Tests for Aquatic Animals, listed diseases, review of the important diseases for Montenegro, basic information on some specific diseases (VHS, IHN, Marteliosis, Bonamiosis), official sampeling, diagnostic techniques EU legislative – animal health requirements for aquaculture animals and products to be applied for the placing on the market Preventive measures for diseases in aquaculture animals and measures to be applied in the event of a suspicion of, or an outbreak of certain diseases in aquatic animals Future activities in veterinary sector regarding aquaculture animals (approximation ot the EU legislation)

The main messages/conclusions There are a lot of challenges for all stakeholders involved in aquaculture All stakeholders have the common duties and goal- try to keep stabile animal health situation in aquaculture sector, and keep or incerase aquaculture production and safety of the food To increase the awareness of the competent authorities and aquaculture production business operators for the prevention, control and eradication of aquatic animal diseases To improve biosecurity measures on the farms To organize more meetings and workshops in the future on the simmilar topics To work together
