What is the definition of a person who is physically fit? Superior level of 1. Flexibility 2. Muscular Strength 3. Cardiovascular Endurance

Flexibility Why is it important to be flexible? Decreases the risk of injury during exercise Enables greater range of motion around joints Can increase performance In everyday life and sporting events Can relieve pain Joint and muscle soreness

How to increase your flexibility.. If you would like to increase your flexibility… Stretch major muscle groups of the body Arms Shoulders/Back Legs Hamstrings Quadriceps Calves

How to increase your flexibility.. How long and how often? After you have identified which stretches to do, stretch each muscle group 2-3 sets of 10-15 seconds. You want to do this 3-4 times per week.

Create your flexibility program… Use the packet provided Choose stretches for each of the following muscle groups (see handout) Explain how to do them. How long, etc.
