Current procedures Principle to include any improvement (as possible) in current Annex 7 as soon as possible then to come to a general approach Proposal to include concerns of IWG : Additional sentence in the scope to reflect the driving situations covered by ASEP For some case, anchor point in i+1 (to avoid strong variation of vehicle noise in gear i). Extend SPL measurement to line BB' + 20m to avoid "backfire” Additional sentence to be sur to include all electric sound enhancement system (such as AVAS, silencers equipped with active cancelled system, …) during the test.

General concerns Annex 7 should address Noise environment situation. Annex 7 should cover typical on-road operation until driving conditions with higher extreme accelerations in an extended speed range representative for urban and suburban traffic. Annex 7 should allow to check a wide variety of operating conditions (e.g. starts, stops, accelerations, decelerations, steady cruises). Annex 7 should avoid illegal modification and help to avoid aftermarket.

General concerns Annex 7 should be simplified as possible specially for “normal” vehicle. Principle of additional point randomly chosen should be defined specially for high powered vehicle and vehicle equipped with Electronically controlled technologies

Control range Control range should be as large as possible to be able, in case of doubt, to check off-cycle in any condition. Control range should be extend : < 20 km/h with impact on method – Stationary should not be include, > 80 km/h (to 100 km/h ?) with impact on facilities > nBB_ASEP (max 90%) all gears (bigger gear ratio range) Partial load with impact on method (and possible on facilties) Acceleration Control range could be extend but limited practically by methods and facilities available

Test methods Review of concepts : Concepts and models from previous IWG for ASEP where reviewed Model base and Not-to-exceed s should be analysed (advantages and disadvantages) - Prniciple of Not-to-Exceed and validation of model(s) should be analyse for “normal” car. V*a concept : Equivalent to engine speed, need to take into acount tyre noise, difficult to measure acceleration. « Full » vehicle noise model concept(prop, tyre, …) : From cruise to full throttle in order to provide limit for each testing condition in an extended control range General margin : Normal driving behaviour, extreme driving behaviour and non legal driving behaviour.

Project plan including milestones What When Who Test method for : Partial throttle Higher speed than 80 km/h Preferably focus on AT, HV Burst ? Indoor/ Outdoor 3 years IWG ASEP + ISO To be managed in parallel Model concept analysis including partial throttle : Full vehicle noise (prop, tyre, …) Others ? Model base or Not-to-exceed for limit ? 2-3 years IWG ASEP (with TF/sub-group) Tests to be performed Database completed: Mid-2018 IWG ASEP (with TF) ½ day in July to define “homework” In general application of ASEP, principle of additional point randomly chosen, categories exemption, comparison between current/future methods To be thought – from 2018
