Polygons. Polygon: a two dimensional shape with straight sides.
Angles-Polygons-Triangles- Quadrilaterals Angles If two lines cross we say they INTERSECT. If two lines in the same plane do not intersect, we say they.
The sum of the angles of a triangle is always 180 degrees.

Desert Willow Elementary School Mrs. Rabuck 5th Grade Desert Willow Elementary School 2-D Shapes

Set: Take a look around the room. Create a list of shapes that you see. Make sure to spell out the names of the shapes and if you are not sure of the name draw a picture of the shape. You will have three minutes. At the end of three minutes we will share. This is an individual task.

Objective: Today I can understand the attributes of 2-dimensional figures. Attribute means: quality, characteristic, trait, feature, element, aspect, property, sign, hallmark, mark, distinction.

Essential Questions: What is a 2d figure? How do I classify 2d figures? What is a polygon? How are sides and angles related to polygons?

Note Time!

What are 2-D Figures? A shape that only has two dimensions (such as length and height) and no thickness is a 2-D figure. Basically, if the figure is flat, it is a 2-D figure.

What are 2-D Figures? Take a minute in your table group to list as many 2-D figures you can think of. Recorder, your job is to list the 2-D figures, your table comes up with. When the timer goes off speakers will share. Ready? GO!

GREAT JOB! YES! 2-D Shapes include: Triangles, Squares, Rectangles, Circles, Pentagons, Hexagons, Heptagons, Octagons, Nonagons, and Decagons.

What is a Polygon? A polygon is a plane (2D) shape with straight sides. To be a regular polygon all the sides and angles must be the same. These are polygons: Triangles, Squares, Pentagons, Hexagons, Heptagons, Octagons, Nonagons, and Decagons

What is a Polygon? Other polygons include: Quadrilaterals A quadrilateral is a 4 sided figure. The sides have to be straight, and it has to be 2-dimensional.

Polygons! POLYGONS ARE 2-DIMENSIONAL FIGURES!!!!!
