Octavio’s Book Mollusks

Mollusks are Invertebrates (no backbones)

The clams and the cockles are mollusks

Mollusks have soft-bodies without bones and legs

The snails and the slugs are mollusks

Mollusks have a mantle that makes the shell and…

… a muscular foot used for motion

but some mollusks develop tentacles in place of a foot

The nautilus is a mollusk that has tentacles

Most mollusks are protected by hard shells

The oyster and the abalones are mollusks

Sometimes a grain of sand gets inside an oyster and produces a pearl

Cuttlefish and squid are mollusks that a shell grows inside they're body

The giant squid is the largest invertebrate

Some mollusks like the octopus don’t have a shell at all

This enables them to squeeze through very narrow slits

Octopus are considered the smartest of all the invertebrates

Other mollusks are:

The scallops and the mussel,

and the sea hare and limpet

There are more than 112,000 species of Mollusk
