FAMOUS PEOPLE OF THE RENAISSANCE LO: To research facts about one famous Renaissance Person and say why they are important.

Your task today is to conduct some research into a famous person from the Renaissance. This will form the basis of 2 things: A piece of display work for the foyer A Balloon Debate in class.

What is a Balloon Debate The idea of a balloon debate is simple. Imagine that you are the famous Renaissance person you have been given and you are in a hot air balloon. The balloon is going down. We need to lose weight by getting rid of someone. You have to give a speech to say why you are most important and should not be thrown out of the balloon.

Your speech MUST include: The person’s name. The date of their birth and death. Which country they were born in. Family background – were they rich or poor? Did they go to school/get an education? Why are they famous? Information describing what they did. A summary of why they are SO important they should not be thrown out of the balloon. Your speech is to be written up neatly for display in our school foyer and on classroom walls You will be using your speech in a debate within the classroom so make it PERSUASIVE.
