Information Technology Best Practices Susan Jorgensen

Pick The Lessons That You Are The Most Excited About. If you are excited they will be too! Don’t try to teach everything! Be flexible with the time recommendations. For you something may go faster or slower go with the flow. Create new curriculum to keep it fresh! Teach the correct number of days. Cover the State Strands and Standards

Choosing The Order You Teach Things For me it came down to a few items. 1 - Keep like things together to provides continuity. 2 – I pick the items that takes less lecture time at the beginning so that I can have students engaged and working from the get go. I also use this time to talk to students by ”helping them” to get to know them. 3- Before midterm / PTC and at the end of the quarter I pick activities that are student favorites so that I get student and parents more positive.

Help is Available code.org Teacher’s in your district or school http://www.uen.org/cte/cca/ Ashley Higgs – State Office of Education https://schools.utah.gov/cte/awareness

code.org Create a teacher’s account to monitor student progress. You can create accounts for your students with pictures as their password or you can have them use their school email address.

Create a separate class for each section you teach.

I have students make their username their last name, first name so that it matches my roll book.

You can see there progress and grade quickly from this screen or see who needs your help.
