Violin Playing Robot Presented to the public in 2007, his robot bipedal artificial violinist caused quite a stir. The robot was programmed to play music But, its purpose could be beneficial.

Capability and Motion The robot has an extremely large range of motion. It is capable of moving in almost any direction; in this case, mimicking human behavior in regards to playing a musical instrument. 17 joints in each hand Humans have 29 joints in each hand

Advantages/Disadvantages A robot could easily streamline and consolidate tasks Make things more efficient Help elderly perform many difficult tasks Costly Need to be programmed perfectly May fail Tasks aren’t done completely like a human would do it.

The True Purpose This robot was likely built to be a healthcare provider. As the population ages, these robots could provide assistance to many elderly people for many everyday tasks. Panasonic and iRobot have developed healthcare bots to compete with Toyota. The production of this robot could provide people with jobs in programming, engineering and development.
