deacon The term “deacon” is transliterated from the Greek word DIAKONOS, which designates one who is a servant. “one who executes the commands of another, especially of a master; a sergeant, attendant, minister” (Thayer). In the New Testament, DIAKONOS is rendered “servant” 25 times and “deacon” 5 times.

deacon Every Christian is a servant, but “deacons” are mentioned separately from the rest of the members of the local church. 1 Timothy 3:13 Philippians 1:1 Acts 6:1-4
