Presentation transcript:

What is AIMSweb? AIMSweb is a benchmark and progress monitoring system based on direct, frequent and continuous student assessment.

How Is Data Collected? Benchmark assessments are administered three times a year: Fall, Winter and Spring Progress Monitoring schedules are set up by the teacher to monitor progress for those students who have not met the benchmark targets.

Kindergarten Benchmarks Early Literacy Skills Early Numeracy Skills Letter Naming Fluency (LNF) Letter Sound Fluency (LSF) Phoneme Segmentation Fluency (PSF) Nonsense Word Fluency (NWF) Oral Counting Measure (OCM) Number Identification Measure (NIM) Quantity Discrimination Measure (QDM) Missing Number Measure (MNM)

First Grade Literacy Benchmarks Early Literacy Skills AIMSweb TEL Reading Skills Letter Naming Fluency Letter Sound Fluency Phoneme Segmentation Fluency Nonsense Word Fluency Reading Curriculum Based Measure (R – CBM)

First Grade Math Benchmarks Early Numeracy Skills AIMSweb TEN Math Skills Oral Counting Measure Number Identification Measure Quantity Discrimination Measure Missing Number Measure Math Curriculum Based Measure – Computation (M- COMP) Math Curriculum Based Measure – Concepts and Applications (M- CAP)

Second through Eighth Grade Reading Skills Math Skills Reading Curriculum Based Measure (R-CBM) Reading Comprehension (MAZE) Math Curriculum Based Measure – Computation (M- COMP) Math Curriculum Based Measure – Concepts and Applications (M- CAP)

How Does AIMSweb Work? Tier 1 Tier 2 Tier 3 Assess all students three times per year for universal screening (early identification), general education progress monitoring, and AYP accountability. Tier 2 Assess and monitor at-risk students and the effectiveness of instructional changes. Changes are in objective, purpose, focus, and intensity. Tier 3 Write individualized annual goals and monitor progress more frequently for those who need intensive instructional services.

How is AIMSweb Administered • AIMSweb CBM testing is administered “paper/pencil” style • AIMSweb measures take 1–10 minutes to complete (most take 1–4 minutes) • Testing is done individually or in groups, depending on the measure • Scores are entered or uploaded into the AIMSweb system ) 3 ‘‘

How Do I Access AIMSweb? You will need a user name and password. Contact Donna Raspa at draspa@tcsnc.org. Log on to www.aimsweb.com Your classroom list of students will appear. You can access scoring, reports, progress monitoring and the RtI tabs from this page.

What is on the Teacher Classroom Page? You class list will upload after the first ten days of school have passed. Please notify Donna Raspa (draspa@tcsnc.org) of any errors. The teacher will need to click on the blue button next to timeframe to find the correct benchmark assessment. Teachers use the Fall, Winter and Spring benchmark timeframes. Are you ready to begin??

AIMSweb Tabs The AIMSweb TEL tab is used by kindergarten and first grade teachers to assess early literacy skills. The AIMSweb TEN tab is used by kindergarten and first grade teachers to assess early numeracy skills. First grade teachers also utilize the Reading and Math tabs to assess R-CBM and Math Computation.

AIMSweb Tabs Second through Eighth grade teachers use the reading tab to assess Fluency and Comprehension. Second through Eighth grade teachers use the math tab to assess concepts and applications and computation. Second through Eighth grades teachers can use the TEL and TEN tabs to assess where the below grade level students are in need of interventions.

Assessment and Scoring Some assessments are paper and pencil and others are administered on the computer. Each year, all necessary benchmarking assessments are printed for teachers. The teacher will add scores for the paper and pencil assessments. Computer generated assessments are automatically scored and entered upon completion.

AIMSweb Reports The “Rainbow Report” gives teachers an opportunity to see where each student scored for each measure. The white area is “well-above average”; the blue area is "above average”; the green area is “average”; the yellow area is “below average” and the red area is considered “well-below average.

AIMSweb Benchmark Targets These change each year and are based on the National results from the year before. Once AIMSweb sets the Benchmark targets, usually in September, a chart will be emailed to all teachers. The Target Line is based on National Norms. When printing a report, teachers must compare to Transylvania County Schools.  Target = 49.0
