Palmyra Fire Department New Ladder 8015 Presentation March 23, 2017 Richard Dreby, Chief of Department Howard Roun, Jr. Deputy Chief/ Ladder 8015 Chairperson

History of the Palmyra Fire Department Members of the Palmyra Fire Department have proudly provided Fire Service to the community for 130 years. Department maintains a roster of 30 active volunteer firefighters. Palmyra Fire Department averages 300 plus fire calls a year.

2016 Statistics 318 Incidents 2,703 Man Hours 30 Minute Average call time Total Personnel Responding: 5406 Average Personnel Response: 17 The Fire Department Personnel spend 4 to 6 hours a month in training. Additional Continuous Education Training is attended.

History of Ladder 8015 1992 LTI 100’ The Ladder has had approximately $ 20,000 in repairs done in the last 3 years

History Continued Department has replaced ladders every 20 years per our policy and recommendation of the Insurance Underwriters The ladder was built specifically for our station as a prototype. As ladder gets older it becomes harder to find parts for repairs. Ladder 8015 is 25 years old. The company felt due to the purchase of other trucks we would hold off on the timeline to purchase this ladder.

History Continued The need for the 100’ Ladder is so that we can reach the highest buildings in our community and the three story homes that sit back. The ladder is a much safer device to work off of and it also is capable of delivering master streams and protecting exposures. The three story buildings in the Riverfront Development are of major concern The Borough has typically bonded the large trucks on a 20 year payoff, this may have changed but prorated this allows for purchases such as this.

Restrictions of Ladder Truck Limits department from researching different apparatus manufactures. Current Parameters of the Firehouse is 10 feet 2 inches. This is due to age of Station and in fact it was an old A&P that has been converted. Currently there are only (3) three apparatus manufactures that make Ladder Trucks that will meet Palmyra Fire Departments needs and Parameters as stated above.

Apparatus Manufactures Committee met with Ferrara Fire Apparatus Holden, LA. $1,400,000.00 KME Nesquehoning, PA $1,350,000.00 Pierce Appleton, WI $1,003,000.00 The Departments Truck Committee Recommendation is that we purchase a Pierce as we currently have two Pumpers that are Pierce Manufactured trucks.

Information If anyone has questions about the proposed purchase of this Ladder Truck please feel free to contact Richard Dreby, Chief, Palmyra Fire Department at 609-868-1305. We welcome those of you who would like to visit the Firehouse to contact the Chief to make arrangements.
