What is Netflix? Netflix is currently the top leading brand for Online video and media streaming. It is a very well-known and popular brand that is used in todays normal culture. The majority of people who use Netflix are young adults in their 16-24s. Their brand is known for its used of black and white on a bright red canvas. And is usually identified with the N symbol or simply the word ‘Netflix’. Which is an easily adaptable and recognisable image to replicate. Why this brand I here you say? Well, as you probably know SARAH-JANE DAWSON

Market Research? Despite their insane popularity today, Netflix has only released a few advertisements, often theses are advertising their upcoming releases, rather than the product itself. When creating my advertisement, I will use it to advertise Netflix as a worthwhile, purchasable service. I have further conducted two surveys to gain a greater insight into how the public see Netflix. I’ve concluded that Netflix is both popular with men and women, and people tend to watch Netflix with their partner or with friends. SARAH-JANE DAWSON

Market Research? When creating my advertisement(s) I will also look into using the kinds of media as a base. When researching the most common categories, films seemed to be the most streamed media, and action, romance and comedy being the most popular genres. Since Netflix have a very iconic, red canvas style brand, I will use lots of red in my advert(s) to represent the connotations of the trademark. SARAH-JANE DAWSON

Why this product? Netflix is an affordable service that allows families, friends and partners to sit down and relax after a long day, together. Netflix needs an advertisement that showcases how it brings viewers together, and benefits the consumers in ways other than ‘what it says on the tin’. When I advertise Netflix, it will be a display of reasons why Netflix is a good ‘diffuser’. SARAH-JANE DAWSON

My Ideas I want to aim my advertisement(s) at young couples. It will focus on the genres of action, romance and comedy as a result of my market research. The advertisement could be an intense few seconds where the protagonist is running to find someone in a busy areas, like a train station or town centre, trying to find their partner, when they finally find them they could ask ‘What’s the Netflix password?’. OR The Protagonist could be sneaking around their partner, being stealth for a few second, and then finally getting home, and their partner comes home to find them watching a TV series without them.
