Video Quiz Summary Only 9 out of 35 people responded 8 of the 9 watched greater than 90% Video Quiz Summary

Learn how to use equipment from demos and hands-on instructions, watch movies and discuss them, share their ideas for projects, and show their projects in class and participate in critique sessions. Having to stop the lecture for these questions is very distracting. Not a great practice. Who thought of this idea? Group quizzes and discussions. They are given several questions to answer in group of 4. They are given 1 or 2 problems to solve during the class writing small segments of code discussion generated by oral presentations of other students, contributions to case study presentations, group work discussing, reading, exercises running computer experiments Currently, what activities do your students participate in during class time?

To know more about this idea and see if I can teach a course(s) using the flipped teaching method. Get to know the concept and try to use it in my teaching. To learn about effective teaching to get ideas for teaching my class next spring in a more effective way I want to introduce some of the concepts as minor changes in a course I teach in the spring to make it more interactive & accessible to distance learners for 2016 What is your main motivation for attending the Flipping Lite - Active Learning Workshop at the CLT on October 10, 2014?

Understanding by Design “One starts with the end – the desired results – and then derives curriculum from the evidence of the learning.” - Wiggins and McTighe, 2000 Understanding by Design

Understanding by Design Backward Design: Formulate broad learning goals Set specific learning objectives Design assessments (formative & summative) Develop learning activities (lecture, homework, etc.) Student Centered Traditional: Understanding by Design Choose textbook Write syllabus Write/Revise lectures Prepare PPTs Write exams/problem sets Instructor Centered
