Let me show you how to cook your very own “Harry Potter” formula. Chinese Herbs are amazing! Here’s my home herb shelf... ...and here’s what my patients receive in the mail. Let me show you how to cook your very own “Harry Potter” formula.

Inside the main bag, you will find single or multiple packets of herbs rubber-banded together (if you need to make separate additions during the cooking process). One packet or set of packets is enough for 2 days worth of formula. Open the main packet with the images on the outside and take a moment to get to know your herbs. These are your friends that will help you remember your true nature and how to heal.

Cover with about 4 cups of water and bring them to a rolling boil. Pour the herbs from the main (or only) packet into a good sized stainless steel, glass, or ceramic pot with a lid. No cast iron or non-stick please. Cover with about 4 cups of water and bring them to a rolling boil.

Cock the lid & turn down the heat until it’s at a good simmer. And most importantly....

Set a timer as directed by your herbalist. You think your herbs smell funky now... you really don’t want to know how your house will smell if you burn them!

While the main herbs are cooking, open any additional packets and set them aside. They will be marked with special instructions like “add in last ___ minutes”. These are usually special herbs such as delicate flowers, mints or citrus peels; or extra powerful herbs that have strong properties.

While they’re cooking, set up your strainer & pitcher. Once the timer goes off, add the additional herbs to the pot and continue to simmer for the time allotted in the special instructions. While they’re cooking, set up your strainer & pitcher.

When the timer goes off again, strain the decoction into a large pitcher, dumping any escaping herbs back into the cook pot.

Don’t forget to set the timer again! Then repeat the initial boil & simmer process again, only with slightly less water & with the lid on tight... Don’t forget to set the timer again!

When the timer goes off, strain off the decoction into the pitcher to mix with the previous batch and then transfer to two jars. Ta-da! You’re done! You just made yourself a wonderful healing potion! (Each jar = 1 day’s worth of formula. Drink room temperature or warm as instructed by your herbalist.)
